Lads has partnered with TELUS Health to deliver additional free support service options for UC students.

Lads Without Labels has partnered with TELUS Health to support University of Canterbury students. Our partnership with TELUS Health offers you two avenues of support:

Personal support services:
  • Professional Support Services: Includes 4 free sessions to access Counsellors and Psychologists and more. Support services are offered in over 20 different languages.
  • TELUS Health One Platform. Here you can access online self-help and educational modules free of charge and with total anonymity. TELUS Health helps us so we can help you and your mates get the support when you need it.

Personal Support Services

TELUS Health Provides Access to Online Support Modules

Through a Lads Without Labels -specific login, you can access online support modules free of charge. You can also complete a well-being assessment that will cater your experience by guiding you to suggested resources. All questions have been clinically designed. This platform targets four pillars of health including physical, mental, financial and social. Access this support on the TELUS Health One app or online:

Personal Support Services

Seek Professional Support with TELUS Health.

Seeking support over the phone:

  • Call TELUS Health at 0800 360 364. A member of the TELUS Health team will receive your call.
  • Start by letting them know you are a student at the University of Canterbury and you have been referred by Lads Without Labels.
  • You will be asked a few questions about yourself and what kind of support you need.
  • TELUS Health will refer you to a professional support person, including but not limited to psychologists and counsellors.
  • After you are referred, the cost of your first four sessions will be automatically covered by the Lads Without Labels Support Fund.

TELUS Health also offers a ‘Find a Counsellor’ link to browse service providers by name or location. Access this service here, alternatively find it through the news feed in your TELUS Health One Platform account.

Your identity will be anonymous to Lads Without Labels, we just pay the bill!

HOw to HELP A MATE

Help a friend receive support through TELUS Health

If somebody you know is struggling, and they’ve given consent for you to share their phone number, you can arrange for TELUS Health to reach out and offer support to your mate.

  • Call TELUS Health at 0800 360 364.
  • Start by letting them know you are a seeking to refer a friend who is a student at the University of Canterbury and that you have been referred by Lads Without Labels.
  • Provide your mate’s phone number.
  • The team at Benestar will confirm they’ve received your request, and will try call your mate to arrange further support.

Additional support options

In addition to the offering from Lads Without Labels and Benestar, there are several alternative support services available.

  • Youthline: Information on a wide range of topics related to well-being for young people.
  • Gumboot Friday: Offers two free counselling sessions to under 25’s across New Zealand.
