Hiya, my name is Ruairidh MacCallum – pronounced ‘Rory’ just to save you the confusion! I’m going into my third year studying law and am joining the Lads exec, as First Year Outreach Officer alongside Vicky.

Outside of my studies, I have a real passion for music and love going on any sort of mission with my mates when possible. From the Port Hills to Sumner, it’s been a great way to experience Christchurch after moving from a small town in Southland!

Coming from a part of the country where the topic of men’s mental health is still quite taboo, the work Lads has done in breaking down the stigma is so inspiring to me. From events like Run 72 which draw attention to the cause, to the awesome resources they provide through the support fund, Lads has given like-minded individuals the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community.

I’m looking forward to meeting many of you this year and keeping the conversation rolling around mental health in New Zealand!
