Kia ora! My name is Vicky and I’m in my third year of studying towards a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Environmental Science and Geography, and minoring in Economics and Political Science. I’m part of the Events Team at Lads as First Year Outreach!
Lads has an amazing platform in driving change in the status quo surrounding mental health, by redefining masculinity norms and normalising conversation. I was motivated to join Lads as I often feel hopeless about the future, and love how Lads addresses a complex issue in a way that feels so positive and uplifting. The continuous events and initiatives Lads runs are vital in creating unity around the shared mission, providing avenues to break the mental health stigma and champion vulnerability particularly amongst men.
I’m particularly excited for the role of First Year Outreach. As an Ōtautahi local, I’m looking forward to exploring ways for Lads efforts to capture first-year living off-campus. Outside of lectures, I’m usually found on floor 10 of central library, but I also try to keep up to date on Letterboxd and Strava. If you spot any Lightning McQueen crocs at Lads events, come have a yarn!

We love connecting with our community. Whether you have a question, would like to support what we do or just want to know a bit more; feel free to flick us through a message and we’d be happy to chat!
