Hey, I’m Zac!
I’m in my final year of Civil Engineering, and this is my second year with Lads Without Labels.
I’m one of the Flat Chats leads, running the Flat Chats program alongside Stanley. After getting through my first year of uni, I saw firsthand how tough it can be on your mental health—not just for me, but for my mates as well. Leaving home and adjusting to a new city like Christchurch is a big shift, and it’s not always easy.
I joined Lads Without Labels because I wanted to support the work they do in normalising mental health conversations and making it clear that it’s okay to have an off day. Flat Chats has been an awesome opportunity to get out into UC flats, share a meal, have a yarn, and touch on some of the harder but important conversations. Our goal is simple: to create a space where flatmates feel comfortable opening up when they need to. The feedback has been great, and it’s been awesome to see the impact these chats have had.
We love connecting with our community. Whether you have a question, would like to support what we do or just want to know a bit more; feel free to flick us through a message and we’d be happy to chat!
