Kia ora e te whanau,

‍

It's once again the time of the year where we take a second to look back at 2025, while also getting through some admin for 2027! This year is a bit different, as alongside our AGM (Ngaio Marsh Theatre, 12 October @ 6pm) and Recruitment, we also have a few other plans that we would want to tell you about. Firstly though, recruiting our 2027 Executive Team.

Applications are open for the 2027 Lads Without Labels Team

If you are keen to get involved with Lads Without Labels for 2027, click on this link!

We would love to see as many of you apply as possible. Applications will close this Sunday 4th of October at 10pm, so make sure you get yours in as soon as you can!

This year the form looks a little different. Instead of choosing the roles you would like to do, we have decided to see what areas of the charity people would be interested in working on. We are going to have a team full of new faces next year, so want to structure our executive based on the strengths of applicants.

If you’re thinking of applying, PLEASEEEEE your application before Sunday 4th October!

Timeline for Recruitment

  • 4th of October: Applications close at EOD.
  • 6th of October: Shortlisting will be finalised, and those progressing to interviews will be contacted by EOD
  • 7-9th of October: Interviews will occur, each interview being approximately 20 minutes long.
  • 10th of October: Successful candidates will be notified via phone call.
  • 11th of October: Party waves - new exec welcomed!
  • 12 of October: 2026 LwL AGM - 2027 Exec announced
  • 19th of October: Exec handover 3-5pm

Lads in Otago

We are excited to announce that Lads Without Labels is going to have a permanent presence as a university club in Otago. Over the years we have been incredibly grateful for the support of the Heavy Breathers down south. It’s going to be epic working alongside them in Dunedin!

At the AGM we are proposing a resolution [see resolutions doc] which is seeking approval from our Lads Without Labels Canterbury members, to send funds to Otago to help them do some sick mahi in their first year of operations.

Establishment of a Charitable Trust for Lads

The primary focus of Lads Canterbury will always be to serve students in the best way we possibly can. This requires us to be adaptable, and meet our peers where they are at. As we’ve grown, so have the opportunities for us to engage in different ways in service of our charitable purpose. We are looking to establish a charitable trust for the following reasons;

‍

‍

‍

‍

‍

‍

  1. Ensure Lads Without Labels exists in perpetuity, with stable funding
  2. Reduce that administrative burden on university chapters of Lads Without Labels
  3. Explore emerging opportunities to serve our community, where the university chapters may not be best placed to do so
  4. Gain the expertise of mental health and charity experts in a structured manner
  5. Continue to build the relevant oversight to do things like employ staff, apply for government funding, and comply with the law that governs us.

See the resolutions document for more details on how we plan to begin this process, and what we are asking members to vote on at this AGM.

Other business that will be covered at the AGM 12 October 6pm…

  • Adopting a new Constitution
  • Confirming 2027 Executive
  • Extending powers for Treasurer and Strategy & Growth Director throughout the summer and Term 1 2027
  • Confirming Life Members
